The Beekman
Meet The Beekman, one of Manhattan’s first skyscrapers and an early example of using brick and terra cotta in office buildings. Built-in 1883, it stands in the iconic area of Manhattan’s downtown and is known as one of New York’s last hidden architectural treasures. This magnificent landmark features an awe-inspiring nine-story Victorian atrium and a unique pyramidal skylight. We restored the building to revive its elegant grandeur and transformed it into The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel. Today, the hotel ranks among the best new hotels in the world and has won numerous awards.
Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects led the restoration. Israel Berger + Associates served as the window replacement consultant and GFI Capital owned the project.
The restoration team meticulously preserved and restored the central atrium, grand skylight, historic cast-iron balustrades, and period wood arched doors and windows. Our expert engineers at CAOBA matched the historical profile windows to maintain the building's original charm. We take pride in our contribution to restoring this magnificent piece of history.
